QB Young in good shape during workout for Bills
Buffalo Bills receiver David Nelson describes free agent quarterback Vince Young as looking in great shape during his workout for the team.
What’s unclear is what the Bills think about Young and whether he fits in their plans. The Bills and the player’s representatives provided no update after Young met with coaches and held an on-field workout at the team’s facility Wednesday.
Nelson was one of four Bills receivers to run routes and catch passes during Young’s session. He said the sixth-year NFL player “looked good,” and it was evident he’s been working hard this offseason to stay in shape.
The visit was Young’s first this offseason in a bid to find a new team. Young was not re-signed by the Philadelphia Eagles after completing a one-year contract.

Eli Manning prepares to host ‘Saturday Night Live’
Eli Manning says he didn’t want to host “Saturday Night Live” after his first Super Bowl victory because it came so soon after big brother Peyton’s appearance a year earlier.
Manning recalled Wednesday that he sent word back to the show’s executives that perhaps he’d host if he won another championship. Sure enough, the New York Giants quarterback said yes after his second title and will star in the comedy sketches Saturday.
Manning says that in 2008, “I had not proven myself as much as I wanted to.”
He says his favorite all-time SNL skit is probably the one where Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze appeared as Chippendales dancers.

Massage therapists sue Favre, Jets over texts – AP

Two massage therapists say in a lawsuit that complaining about sexually suggestive text messages from Brett Favre cost them their part-time jobs with the New York Jets.
Christina Scavo and Shannon O’Toole sued the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, the Jets and a Jets massage coordinator Monday in a Manhattan court. The lawsuit comes days after the NFL fined Favre $50,000 for not being candid in an investigation into allegations that he sent lewd text messages and photos to a Jets game hostess.
Favre’s agent didn’t immediately return a telephone call. The Jets declined to comment.
The lawsuit says Favre send a third, unidentified massage therapist a 2008 text message asking whether she and Scavo “want to get together” and suggesting he had “bad intentions.”

Lead NFL negotiator: 18-game season key to talks – AP

The head of the NFL’s negotiating team says it will be much easier to reach a new labor deal if it includes an 18-game regular season.
In an interview with The Associated Press on Thursday, NFL executive vice president of labor and chief counsel Jeff Pash also says the league is “focused on a full 2011 season” and the owners want to have an agreement with the players’ union “well before” the summer.
Pash believes the back-and-forth the sides already have had about an 18-game regular season demonstrates they are aware of that subject’s importance to the talks. He says the NFL and union “exchanged detailed proposals” and had “detailed discussions” on that topic and adds that he thinks they’ll “continue to do so.”

Sterger rep says no lawsuit if NFL punishes Favre – AP

A spokesman for the former New York Jets game hostess who allegedly received inappropriate photos and phone messages from Brett Favre says she won’t sue the Vikings quarterback if he’s punished by the NFL.
Jenn Sterger’s manager, Phil Reese, said Thursday that she would like the league to “implement a program” to prevent unwanted advances — similar to those she’s alleging Favre made. Reese said Sterger wants the league to discipline Favre before his career ends.
Sterger’s attorney says the NFL has concluded its investigation and sent the findings to the commissioner’s office and league lawyers for review. The NFL is not commenting on the status of the investigation.
The alleged messages from Favre to Sterger were sent in 2008, Favre’s only season with the Jets. Favre has said this season will be his last. There are four regular-season games remaining.
Reese first commented on the possibility of a lawsuit on “The Dan Patrick Show.”

QB Vick, Eagles want equal treatment – AP

Michael Vick has taken shots to the helmet, been speared and had his facemask grabbed without seeing a yellow flag. The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t happy about it.
Vick, coach Andy Reid and teammates have all taken turns expressing concern that other teams aren’t being penalized for what they perceive to be illegal hits.
Earlier this week, Vick made it clear he doesn’t think he’s being treated the same as other quarterbacks. He said only once this season has an opponent been penalized for a late hit against him. That was against Detroit in Week 2.
